Since 1947 Interfaith Social Services has been dedicated to helping people with all types of hunger: people who are hungry for therapy and mental health counseling people who are hungry to keep a roof over their heads or who are hungry to keep the lights on for their families. It is wonderful how we are able to help thousands of people every year through this service, but Interfaith is much more than a food pantry. Interfaith operates one of the largest emergency food programs in Greater Boston. When people think about Interfaith Social Services the first image that frequently pops into their minds is food. This presents an opportunity to celebrate, commemorate and rededicate. In 2017 we will celebrate Interfaith’s 70th anniversary and we will host our 20th annual Feed the Hungry Gala. What a year! As we look forward to 2017, we are excited for the milestones that this year represents for our organization. You have brought hope and joy to local children and families. You have helped us to feed hungry families, prevent homelessness for area residents, and provide mental health counseling for people with no place else to turn for help. This gives us an opportunity to recognize Interfaith’s amazing donors and remember the many ways that our community mobilized to serve our neighbors in need. The annual report that you are reading looks back at 2016. Hank you to everyone who made an impact on our organization and the clients that we served last year. officers John O’Donnell, President Bernard Dasilva, First Vice President Patrick Buchanan, Second Vice President Sandy Johnson, First Assistant Treasurer Maggie Trudel, Treasurer Gabriel Arato, Second Assistant Treasurer Cynthia Lee, Secretaryį letter from interfaith social services board president and executive director Our unique approach relies on a team of volunteers, donors and community partners who deliver compassionate, client-centered programs focused on hunger, mental health and emergency assistance.
